MICHELLE'S FIVE POINT PLAN FOR CHESSINGTON SOUTH
Unlock Chessington's Potential on May 6th by voting Michelle Akintoye BEM - a resident, not a politician!
PROTECTING CHESSINGTON'S UNIQUE CHARACTER
I will fight tirelessly to protect Chessington’s unique semi-rural area and protect the Greenbelt from overdevelopment by supporting sustainable planning.
IMPROVING PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Chessington South station is a mess with walls covered in graffiti, litter on the platform. I will set up a community group to ‘adopt’ Chessington South station and lobby the Mayor of London for better bus links to/from Chessington.
A TENANTS' CHARTER
Chessington’s council tenants have told me how they aren’t getting timely repairs, and when repairs are completed they are often to a shoddy standard. I will lobby for a Tenants’ Charter, outlining the basic service guarantees every Council tenant must receive in Chessington and across the borough.
Chessington’s police response times are amongst the worst in South West London. I will call on Kingston Council to opt-in to the Met Police’s Partnership Plus scheme to hire extra bobbies on the beat, ring-fenced just for Chessington.
As a mother, I was deeply saddened when the Council closed Childrens’ and Youth Centres. I will put pressure on the Council to reopen closed facilities, and use my considerable experience as a youth worker to bring about more opportunities for young people in Chessington.
